Traffic surveys

In maths this morning some of us went out to the front of the school to find out about different types of transport that goes past and some of us went across the field to watch the traffic on Kenninghall Road.

Keeping an eye on Gallants Lane

We made tally charts and pictograms of what we found. There were big differences between the two roads. We want to ask the schools in London how much traffic they see. I wonder if it will be different?

We watched the traffic for 10 minutes, then completed pictograms of our surveys. We found out the difference between the totals from each road. Maybe you could try this where you live?

We will be finding out over the next half term what it is like to live and go to school in London. The two schools we are linking with are St George's school in Battersea and St Joseph's school in Barking. We looked at where the schools are on Google Earth and we thought about things that are the same and things that are different. 

Looking at the maps made us ask lots of questions. We had a big think, then wrote letters to Class 2 children in each school, asking them our big question. We are going to Skype them later this term. How exciting!
